Faithful Trajectory Intercultural Engagement Grant Application
History of the Grant
Formerly known as the Diversity Enhancement Grant, the Faithful Trajectory Intercultural Engagement (FTIE) Grant is designed to promote intercultural engagement leading to the development of intercultural maturity: The ability to accept challenges from and—at the same time—build interdependent relationships with different people from other backgrounds. The Diversity Enhancement Grant was administered by the now-dissolved Campus Diversity Committee and was available to faculty, staff, and students. Now administered by the Division of Student Life, the FTIE Grant is only available to students and student organizations. Related grant funds for faculty have shifted to the Provost's Office.
What is Intercultural Engagement
Intercultural engagement at Baylor means curating thoughtful and intentional opportunities and experiences to cultivate the development of intercultural maturity in our students, faculty, and staff. This mission-centric relational work is rooted in the command to love our neighbor as ourselves (Galatians 5:14). Guided by our unwavering Christian commitment, we strive to develop servant-leaders who embody virtues such as humility, justice, and wisdom—setting students on a faithful trajectory toward healing a fractured world so that all may flourish.
Priority in funding will be given to proposals that are designed to:
- Foster intercultural engagement in alignment with the FTIE model learning objectives.
- Reach and include the broader campus community.
- Reflect collaborative efforts between two or more organizations and/or departments.
- Strengthen community through innovative and impactful initiatives.
- Are cost-effective and demonstrate resource-sharing efforts.
